U16A vs Uppingham - Home … Won 4-0 (Manara, Skinner 2, Malyon)

The girls had prepared well for Uppingham, we started well and found our first goal came after a period of pressure, after a good build up and strike from the top of the circle was deflected by Bella past the stranded Uppingham goal keeper. Uppingham then squandered a 1-1 with our goal keeper Lizzie, who saved brilliantly. We did struggle marking the opposition strikers who were playing very high, but we settled defensively as the game progressed, as we had the majority of the ball. Our second goal was straight from the training field, right time, right place, scoring on the back post for Eliza.

We tried to step up a gear second half, we did pass and move better, what was pleasing we won 7 penalty corners which was a half time goal - disappointingly our routines were not up to our normal standard.

Our 3rd goals was a really good piece of play, we moved the ball changing channel, we passed it forward superbly, our forwards cleared space and took defenders with them leaving Becca a clear run and shot at goal, she is a first class marksman - in front of goal she is as good as I have had the privilege to coach.

Our last goal, was a carbon copy, but this time the reverse stick shot going wide was pounced upon and deflected in by Eliza, a spectacular goal.

At times we did play some good passing hockey, but we also made it hard work for ourselves - Molly Johnson again had a strong game with Emma Wardrup, Lizzie Beamish in goal pulled off a handful of very good saves … Eliza Skinner 2 goals was also a wonderful effort and well deserved.

MVP - Lizzie Beamish (clean sheet)
