Uppingham U14 (10) vs (26) Oakham U14

Thursday 11th October - The Middle, Uppingham

On 11th October, we played Uppingham away. After a brilliant win in our first match over Uppingham, winning by a large margin, we knew we were in with a good chance. However, we knew that Uppingham would be a much stronger side this time round. The first half began and Oakham were off the mark with a good first try. This was a great start, however a very skilled outside centre was given space. He broke our lines, and subsequently scored a try. This was a wake up call for Oakham, and we knew that we had to bounce back. We did so, and scored another try, out wide in the corner. This was then converted by an incredible kick from George Bland, as always reliable. This left the half time score at 14-5 to Oakham. Oakham were facing the wind second half, and going up hill. However this didn’t trouble us as we were concentrated on our victory, and looking forward to a good second half. After a couple of minutes, Will Begy broke the line and ran through for a brilliant try. Then, a comparatively quiet period, with both sides matching the others physicality. However, yet again the outside centre broke our lines, scoring another try. But Oakham were now playing an incredibly high level of rugby, and this was rewarded with another try. This was a great effort by the boys, and they thoroughly deserved their win. The work rate was yet again excellent, and it was a great way to finish the half term. We look forward to even more great matches next half term.
