Solihull School U14 (24) vs (7) Oakham School U14

Saturday 1 December - Main Fields

On 1st December, Oakham U14 A’s player Solihull away, in a tough game. With two matches left, the boys were determined to finish strongly, and end a brilliant season on a high. A problem for the team has been switching on from the word go, and not letting tries in early on in the game. However the team massively improved on this this game, and denied early tries. After a while of continuous defence, Solihull broke our lines and scored a try. Then two more quickly came, as Solihull had all of the possesion. However, towards the end of the first half, Oakham had the ball and were playing some excellent rugby. Oakham dominated towards halftime, but were just denied a try, 5 meters from the line. Halftime came, the score at 19-0 to Solihull. This was not the desired score, but Oakham knew that they could still win this game, with a couple of early tries in the second half. Oakham did exactly that, and Toby Cousins scored a brilliant try; converted by George Bland. This was a great start, but we still had a lot more work to do. With possesion, Oakham would win the game however they lacked possesion, meaning they could not show their attacking skills. Solihull scored again, with some strong running. The game finished, with Solihull beating Oakham by four tries to one. Although the score doesn’t show it, this was a brilliant performance from the team, and we look forward to next weeks match against Stowe. Well done lads.
