Oakham u15 v Leicester GS - Won 3-1

After a delayed start meaning a reduced game we started well against our visitors. The evening was crisp but dry and the team were very excited to be playing a home match under the floodlights. We were soon into our rhythm and could have scored a couple of nice goals with right hand side attacks. The first goal eventually came with a nice move, the ball being passed around at good speed ending up with Millie Barton scoring. We won several short corners in the first half that were well defended but Millie did manage to score another nice goal to double our lead. We made lots of substitutions in order to keep players fresh (and warm) and perhaps this lead to some confusion, either way it did lead to Leicester GS scoring a nice goal to reduce the deficit just before half-time. 2-1.

The second half started much like the first with the Oakham girls playing some nice attractive Hockey but without being able to find the goals to secure the game. This led to the team getting frustrated and even more wasteful in-front of goal. At the back the defence held firm and kept our lead intact also building up the play away from our goal. Eventually the pressure told and the game was secured when Millie scored to complete her third hat-trick of the season. This was not our best performance but there was still a number of positives to take from the match.
