U16 Cup vs Rugby School - Round 3 (away) Won 2-1 (B.Malyon, J.Cassidy)

Another away trip in a matter of days to regional rivals Rugby School, in dreadful weather conditions, the girls set about their task of progressing to the 4th Round of the cup. We started slowly, Rugby initially putting us under a lot of pressure from the whistle, but after the first ten minutes we had somehow held out and not conceded, and we started to build some momentum of our own, finally opening the scoring through a great reverse stick hit from Becca Malyon. This energised us even more, the bench kept the team fresh and this played a massive part in keeping us moving forward, we found our second goal soon after the first, again through a nice piece of team play which Becca unselfishly released the ball to Jasmine Cassidy to deflect the ball around the Rugby goal keeper.

We looked stronger in the second half, we should have secured the game with a third goal, but our chances were ever spoiled or spilled … we conceded with 11 minutes to go, this felt like it came from nowhere - we got turned over in our own half from a side-line ball - this did galvanise us and made it an entertaining last ten minutes for the drenched supporters … another hard fought Away win, our girls showed how tough and resilient they are … we're all looking forward to Round 4.

Man of the match - Emma Wardrup.
