Oakham Hockey enjoyed a busy Christmas period with a squad of senior hockey players on a pre-season tour to Barcelona, a Junior pre-season camp at Oakham and impressive achievements garnered by Oakhamians playing at Club Indoor matches. There is also plenty more Hockey on the horizon for 2019.

Club Indoor Success

Well done to Form 6 student Ellie-Mae who represented Beeston in the Regional Indoor Club Finals and has qualified for the National Finals to be held on 19th January.

Also, Jenna Lloyd (Form 6) played for Leicester HC 1st VI in the National Premier League, playing alongside OO & Leicester Captain Caitlin Jeffries (also PE staff) and Head of Girls PE Katie Long

1st XI Barcelona Tour

The 1st XI team travelled to Barcelona in Spain for pre-season training. They played and trained at incredible venues including the Olympic stadium, the experience of which was enjoyed by all. They also played against the Iluro Men’s team and the locally renowned Egara Hockey Club. The trip included the opportunity to explore the sights of Barcelona including a further ‘cultural experience’ along Las Ramblas. To view the photo-gallery of the tour please click here.

Junior Pre-Season

It was fantastic to see 105 aspiring and talented Form 3 and Lower School students attending pre-season training at Oakham before the start of term.

Girls U16

The Girls U16A Team were back in pre-season training to prepare for their National Cup competition fixture this term as they continue to progress in the Tier 1 National Competition.

National Indoor 1st VI

The Boys 1st VI are playing in the National Indoor Finals this weekend (Fri & Sat), with Oakham Hockey having successfully qualified at this level for the 6th time in 9 years.

After such a positive start to the season, here’s to another very successful 2019. To keep up to date with hockey news follow Oakham’s Hockey Twitter account @OakhamHockey.
